Frequently asked questions

Q How can I secure my wedding date in your diary?

A I can secure a date in my diary on receipt of a 25% deposit. Sorry, but dates cannot be held open without a deposit.

Q How long does it take to do my hair and make-up on the day?

A It varies, but on average I allow an hour to do the bride's make-up and about half an hour to forty minutes for bridesmaids and mothers of bride. Roughly the same amount of time is taken to style hair. Needless to say, I am available for very early starts!

Q What if I need to re-touch my make-up during the day?

A Your make-up has been applied to last all day, however I do recommend you purchase the lipstick for top ups.

Q Which areas do you cover?

A I live in Newcastle upon Tyne, and can cover most areas that within a reasonable driving distance. I will consider travelling any distance dependent upon the size of the wedding, and of course my other commitments. Longer distances sometimes involve an extra charge.

Q What if I decide to cancel my booking?

A You must notify me of cancellation in writing at least two months before your wedding, otherwise a cancellation fee of 50% of the total cost will be charged. Please note that deposits are non-refundable in the event of cancellation.

Q Should my make-up be done after my hair is styled?

A Yes, it is best to have your make-up applied after your hair has been styled.

Q Do you come to my home on the day of the wedding?

A Yes if you live (or your venue) is within the specified areas. However, I normally request that the wedding trial takes place in my studio in Gosforth (Newcastle).

Q How soon before the wedding should I book a trial?

A Due to the high volume of enquiries I receive, it is wise to have a trial as early as possible; most bookings are taken at least 6 months in advance of your wedding.

Q Which cosmetics do you use?

A As a Mac pro member, I believe MAC cosmetics to be by far the best available in the marketplace. As a consequence I use MAC almost exclusively. MAC cosmetics are designed to look good to the eye and, crucially, to the camera as well. Fairly important when you get your wedding album back!

Q Do you do both the hairstyling and the make-up?

A No, I have worked with a specialist wedding hair stylist for a number of years. As a team we take care of whatever the client requires.

Q What if you are ill on my wedding day?

A In this unlikely event, I may be able to recommend an alternative make-up artist , and every endeavour would be made to find someone to visit you. However, if for any reason this was not possible, you would, of course be given a full refund including your deposit.

Q When should I pay the final balance?

A The balance is payable on the wedding day. Unfortunately I am not in a position to take debit or credit card payments, but cheques or cash are absolutely fine.

Q How much experience do you have ?

A I have over 12 years experience of being a professional make-up artist, having learnt my trade with MAC over a period of 7 years.

Since becoming a freelance make-up artist I have been privileged enough to share in and contribute to the special day of over 200 brides, as well as countless bridesmaids, not to mention mothers of the respective brides! I am proud to say that I have had nothing but very complimentary feedback. Just one of the reasons why I love my job so much!
